My name is Liz Hendrix and this is my story:
I grew up on the East coast loving horses and art. Following my passion for Dressage I became a successful trainer and competitor for 20+ years. Finally, ending up in East Bay San Francisco running my own business, EBHDressage. In 2010 an illness forced me to reevaluate my life’s direction. After developing a facial neuralgia that for 10 years made it painful to be outside for extended periods of time I was forced to slow down my career with the horses. Currently I am feeling much better and have picked up more of my horse career again!
I created “Angel and Evie” at a time in my life that I had a choice – to be depressed and angry I couldn’t ride and compete at the top level anymore or move forward and find something else I was happy doing… I owe so much to that little book! Angel and Evie – Catching a Unicorn has sold over 2000 copies and sent me down a path to becoming an award winning artist and portrait creator.
As an equine and animal artist I work hard to breathe life, emotion and personality into each painting or sketch. Using oil paints, pencil or water color pencil, I want to feel what that animal is feeling. I currently live in Rocklin California with my husband, daughter, 3 dogs, 5 chickens, a lizard and a bunch of fish tanks. I still ride and teach a handful of people and split my time writing, illustrating, portrait making and art.
